Rural communities, women and the youth are the closest to my heart. Having worked in many diverse communities as both a community worker and later a Ward Councilor, I have been privilage to understand the inequalities that apartheid brought ot our communities, scars of directionless young people who are failing to access clear path to the main stream economy due to lack of skills and broken families. I have been encouraged by many leaders I have worked with, inspired me to note that in small spheres and own backyards; we can indeed make a difference.
Having been involved in the education sector, Mr Ntombela currently the Political Advisor of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of eThekwini, he is a former Director at the KZN Department of Basic Education in Umlazi District. Mlungis’s career blossomed as an activist in the teacher’s union, this which led to him becoming a Provincial Secretary - General of South African Democratic Teachers Union.
He is a well known respectable businessman with vast experience in skills development to which he played a vital role in establishment of the SETA’s in South Africa during his time at the Department of Higher Education as a Director in the Office of the Minister.
Wiseman devoted most of his life to arts, his background includes the record of becoming one of the youngest choir masters to have turned the fate of choral music in South africa. Mkhize has established the first ever foundation in the domestic choral fraternity through the well articulated international and domestic multi-award winner Clermont Choir.
Wiseman holds a qualification in Environment and recreation Technology in Horticulture, obtained from the Durban University of Technology, his love and maturing in projects, later he enrolled with University of Cape Town where he obtained his Advanced Project Management certificate. He is passionate about community development. Having been in the senior position, heading the education and development portfolio at KwaZulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, Wiseman’s experience has resulted in his appointment by the Patron to the helm of re-establishing this entity as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer.
Ms. Prathima Jairajh is an attorney under the company ATTORNEYS PRATHIMA JAIRAJH AND COMPANY. Ms. Jairajh has devoted almost all her life in serving her community of Phoenix, and assisting Mama Zandile Gumede in other community developmental programs. She comes to the board with vast experience in legal matters.
Ms. Linda Ngcobo is the CEO of AQRate KZN and has played a pertinent role in the Alec Rogoff Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Awards. Together with AFRICANDI Director Brigitte Brun, Ngcobo has provided expert advice and solutions regarding BBBEE compliance and transformation assistance to companies across South Africa – these include Engen Oil, LexisNexis, the National Department of Tourism and the Spar Group.
Ngcobo qualified as a Chartered Accountant 13 years ago, and obtained an undergraduate degree at the University of Zululand. She later attained her post graduate degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and served her articles with renowned auditors Price Waterhouse Coopers, before heading up Durban-based companies, AFRICANDI and AQRate KZN.
Ms Lindiwe Rakharebe has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Durban ICC since 1st April 2015. Her passion and dedication in growing the KwaZulu-Natal economy as well as her strong background in corporate management has helped to continue to propel the forward momentum of the organisation. Rakharebe is driven to achieve excellence in every way.
Mr. Senzo Mgobhozi is the Executive Director of Iqhina Consulting Engineers and Project Managers. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Property Development obtained from University of Kwa Zulu-Natal in 2009. In 2011 he was awarded a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying from the same institution. Senzo is registered as a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) with the South African Council of Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP), specializing in the following fields: Quantity Surveying, Programme Management, Construction Management & Project Management.
A teacher by profession, Mr. Sokhabase hails from Ntuzuma, south of Durban and has also been a community activist on matters involving education. A current Head master of one of the prominent schools in the area, Themba is one of the board members who established the Mama Zandile Gumede Foundation back in 2015 and understands the initial vision and objective of this entity.
